eCBHFA is based on evidence-based behaviour change theories, designed to improve health literacy of community members and thus empower communities to identify health risks and improve their health. The eCBHFA approach is planned and implemented through participatory methods based on community needs in any kind of environment or context such as urban areas, rural areas, schools, emergency shelters, migrant camps and even prisons. eCBHFA caters to the all age groups and uses a peer educator approach at all levels. Most importantly, eCBHFA is a low-budget community-based programme that brings sustainable life-saving results.
eCBHFA in unique in every National Society, based on local needs, cultures, language and imagery. It is based on tested technically accurate content but each version mirrors the National Society that contextualises it. The programme framework that supports eCBHFA is inspired by the bicycle, a vehicle used by millions of eCBHFA volunteers globally to travel between their communities. In the diagram, the driver of our eCBHFA bicycle is the community, while the volunteers – the heart of eCBHFA – help to steer the way and provide guidance to reach shared goals.
The eCBHFA bicycle frame is composed of National Societies which provide the structure for eCBHFA to grow and succeed, and the three moving wheels of Evidence Base, Operational Support framework and Interventions framework. Together they all form a fully functionable programme that moves a community forward towards better health.
Teaching guides and tools
Behaviour change-based health modules to teach health literacy to volunteers and community members. Each module contains a volunteer guide, a facilitator guide and a toolkit which can be adapted and translated for any context.
